Dating in the 21st century is a completely unique phenomenon. There are plenty of opportunities to meet people, but our schedules are absolutely crazy. How do you find your soul mate amidst all the hustle and bustle of the average day? "Dating" was created in the past century to accommodate the pace of our lives. The number of singles in the nation increases exponentially each year, and yet people are still hungry to meet their life-long partner.
Online dating is the best way to meet people in the modern age; hands down. Online dating makes dating easy and fun, and wonderfully decreases the amount of time and energy spent finding someone to spend a Saturday night with! Online dating services move at the pace of our lives, and I'm convinced that anyone can find a potential mate, or at least a great dinner partner, through an online matchmaking service.
What you first want to do is find an online dating website that you like. Shop around and see what your search engine comes up with. Look at different prices and statistics. It's always a good idea to go with a site that's the most popular, because there are more potential dates available on that site! You will need to answer some basic questions for your profile, like sex, age, race, personal preferences, etc. They'll ask you about smoking and drinking, what you consider the perfect date, your hobbies, and your interests. What these surveys allow you to do is to screen-out people with habits you don't like! If you hate smoker's breath, then no smokers will come up as matches for you. It's that simple.
Once you're done with the survey, you're ready to post your picture. Don't be afraid! There's no need to run to your local K Mart and get a glamour shot. Pick a photo that really looks like you and one that you're comfortable with.
Now, once your profile is up, you're going to start receiving matches, messages, and potential dates. This is the fun part, so don't get scared!
